HCSO Personnel Aid in Body recovery from Mississippi River
February 23, 2020 (Minneapolis) –
At about 1215 this afternoon, Minneapolis Police and Fire officials notified the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office that they had located a body in the ice in the Mississippi River near the Franklin Avenue Bridge.
Personnel from the Sheriff’s Water Patrol responded with an airboat, working alongside Minneapolis Fire Department personnel to recover the body. Sheriff’s investigators have also responded.
“The ice and river conditions made this an especially difficult recovery,” Sheriff Dave Hutchinson said, “our water patrol deputies have the equipment they need, but it is still a quite challenging scene.”
