WEEKEND TWO: July 6 – 7
Curated by Susan Haas

Our new summer weekend series of live music, creative puppetry, and craft cocktails continues! Join us this Friday and Saturday for two unique puppet shows by Open Eye regular Liz Howls and Paradox Teatro (Sofia Padilla, Davey T Steinman, and Kalen Keir)! They’ll be joined by bands Bella Yaga on July 6 and Coy & Daring on July 7.

By Paradox Teatro
In light of expanding border walls around the globe, MIGRACIONES follows the voyage of refugees as they travel on legs, wings, and dreams in search of a new home. Paradox Teatro is a collaboration between artists from México and the United States, communicating across cultures through puppetry, shadows, and music in English and Spanish.

By Liz Howls
Liz Howls performs 3 short fables for all ages (that’s you too mom and dad!). Using miniature handmade puppets and her odd yet silly sense of humor, she makes the whole family laugh. This show is fun and sentimental and reminds us of ancient lessons that we can still apply today. Guess along, clap along, sing along, and laugh along!

SWEET SONGS AND FLYING OBJECTS continues July 20-21 with puppetry by Steve Ackerman and Alison Tobi Daniels with music by Renee Copeland and SlovCzech!

A new work by Luverne Seifert—in a garage!
Open Eye Presents
July 12 – 14

A FUSEBOX project by Luverne Seifert

Award-winning actor Luverne Seifert writes and performs a new solo show that contemplates the history of America by examining the obsolete objects we can’t bring ourselves to throw away—license plates, household objects, tools, recordings, costumes, weapons, flags, plaques, tape players, and statues.

Nostalgic and surprising, GARAGE is an act of cultural archaeology that invites us to examine the deeply personal and grander themes of a country facing extraordinary challenges. Presented as an intimate work-in-progress with limited-seating in an actual garage in the Saint Anthony neighborhood of NE Minneapolis. (You’ll get the exact location emailed to you when you buy your ticket.)

FUSEBOX projects are exciting, unpredictable, new works in development, created by Twin Cities artists exploring new intersections between performance, song, puppetry, dance, and visual art. Audiences are an important part of the process! Performances of these new works give artists an opportunity to interact with audiences and refine their productions based on audience feedback.
