This is an update about some of the projects that MnDOT has going on or that are causing closures on MnDOT roads.

The full closure planned for this weekend is postponed until next year. The weather is not expected to be warm enough to lay asphalt and do striping.

Highway 55 is closed from Van White Blvd. to Lyndale Ave W. for two weeks. Metro Transit is replacing a drain pipe as part of the blue line light rail train extension. This closure started Monday.
Highway 55 South Minneapolis (Hiawatha) Hiawatha will be reduced to one lane in each direction over Lake Street weekdays from Thursday, Nov. 2 to Tuesday, Nov. 7 daily from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The lane closures will alternate. This is maintenance work and not part of a larger project.

The 31st Street ramp to I-35W south is scheduled to open Nov. 10.
The Portland Avenue Bridge, which closed in early October, is scheduled to reopen for one lane by the morning of Saturday. Nov. 4 and all lanes on Nov. 10, weather permitting.

Crews have been working since mid-October to make technology improvements to the bridge’s aesthetic lighting system. The aesthetic lights have been turned off since early October. The freeway lights remain in operation. This is an improvement project. It will require some single-lane closures in November. It is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.

Highway 169 from Highway 62 to Highway 55 has been fully open since Sept. 26. Watch for short-term lane closures overnight and this weekend. The work is nearing completion.
The ramp from southbound Highway 280 to I-94 east is closed through Friday as crews repair drainage and resurface the ramp.
